3、Now since the assessment 1 of intelligence is a comparative matter we must be sure that the scale with which we are comparing our subjects provides a "valid 2" or "fair" comparison.
【分析】
多重复合句。since引导原因状语从句，主句主干为we must be sure that…，that引导宾语从句。宾语从句主干为 the scale…provides a “valid” or “fair” comparison，其中又包含一个which引导的定语从句修饰限制scale。翻译时，which引导的定语从句可译作scale 的前置定语，也可译作汉语的时间状语。
【译文】
