LESSON 54 WINTER 第五十四课 冬天
WINTER has come at last. There are no flower snow in the garden, and every leaf is gone from the trees. 最后，冬天还是来了。雪铺满了花园，花已无踪影，每片树叶都已凋零。
The snow lies thick upon the ground, and the poor little birds hop 1 about seeking in vain for food. 地面积满了厚厚的雪，可怜的小鸟跳来跳去，徒劳的寻找食物
Here comes little robin 2 redbreast. Do you see him on the tree? He is a bold little fellow. 小的知更鸟，红胸脯。你在树上看到了么？他是个勇敢的小家伙。
If we put some crumbs 3 of bread upon the windowsill, he will come and pick them up. 如果我们把面包屑放在窗台上，他就飞过来，叼走他们。
But we must be very quiet, or he will take fright and fly away. 但我们必须保持安静，否则他会被惊吓飞走。
Pretty robin, come again tomorrow, and we will give you some more nice crumbs. 小巧的知更鸟，明天还会再来，我们会给你更多的面包屑。
In winter we should think of the wants of the poor. 冬天的时候，我们要考虑可怜的人伙需要什么。
Many a child has no fire to warm him, little food to eat, or clothing to shield him from the cold. 好多小孩子都没有用来取暖的火，没有多少食物可吃，甚至没有衣服度过寒冷的冬天。
But God has given all these things to you. Thank Him with all your heart, and try to help the poor. 但是上天把这些东西都给予了你。以心回馈，帮助这些可怜人。
Though we do not now see leaves and flowers, still the roots of the plants are safely locked up beneath the snow. 尽管我们现在看不到树叶和花朵，植物的树根安稳的封锁在大学下。
Again the voice of Spring will be heard. Again the flowers will burst into beauty, and the trees will put on their robe of green. 春天的声音将会传来。鲜花盛开，树木穿上新装。
They are not dead. They are only in their winter sleep. 他们并没有死。他们只是在冬眠。
