GOING TO GRADUATE SCHOOL


laurance--How's school going?
soony--Just fine.I finally got the grant to go to
       graduate school.
laurance--Great!Are you starting your doctorate 1?
soony--That's right.I'm going to do it in biochemistry.
laurance--Sounds like an interesting field.
soony--It is to me.
laurance--You've got a degree in nuclear physics,haven't
          you!
soony--Just a Master's degree.Actually,biochemistry is
       a lot of better field for me.I've always
       preferred chemistry to physics.
laurance--What do you plan to do after you finish?
soony--I haven't decided 2 yet,but probably medical
       research.
laurance--Well,you've got some years of hard study
          ahead of you.
soony--I know it.


注解:
1)How's school going?注意此句中的school是不可数名词,作“学业”
“功课”解。又如:She always found school difficult.
2)grant:助学金
3)graduate school研究生院
4)doctorate:博士学位
5)It is to me=It is an interesting field to me.他的朋友说,
sounds like而他说it is,语气肯定。is要重读。
6)nuclear physics:核物理学。
7)Master's degree:硕士学位。
8)prefer..to...:喜欢(前者)甚于后者。
9)ahead of you:在你的前面。
