BEIJING, July 28 (Xinhua) -- The observatory 1 of Beijing on Saturday issued a blue alert for strong wind and hails in northeastern suburban 2 region of the city.
Strong wind, rains and hails are expected to hit northern Huairou District and Miyun County, both in Beijing's suburban areas, on Saturday night, according to the Beijing meteorological center's alert.
The center asked residents to be on guard for adverse 3 weather.
The Chinese capital has been hit by several downpours over the last week, in particular the heaviest rain in six decades one week ago, which claimed 77 lives.
Chinese meteorological authorities use a four-tier color-coded weather warning system of "blue," "yellow," "orange" and "red," with "red" being the most severe.
