Over 9,000 volunteer candidates for Euro 2012

WARSAW, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Over 9,000 candidates from 71 countries and regions have applied 1 for voluntary work during the 2012 European Championship in Ukraine and Poland, local media reported on Tuesday.
Euro 2012 volunteers are recruited both by championship-hosting cities and European soccer ruling body UEFA. UEFA volunteers will help out at stadiums, competitor accommodation centers and hotels, and those employed by cities will mainly work at so-called fan zones set up for off-stadium fans.
The recruitment will end in late September.
The championship, slated 2 for June 8-July 1, 2012, will take place in four Polish cities of Warsaw, Gdansk, Wroclaw and Poznan as well as four Ukrainian cities of Kiev, Lvov, Donetsk and Kharkov.
