MONTEVIDEO, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Paraguay has seized 269 kilograms of cocaine 1 ready for shipment to Switzerland, authorities said Friday.
The contraband 2 was discovered Thursday inside a wooden container at Puerto Fenix, an air terminal and shipping 3 port on the Paraguay River, on the outskirts 4 of the capital Asuncion, National Anti-Narcotics Secretariat Director Francisco de Vargas said.
The cocaine may have been flown in from Bolivia or Colombia, Vargas told a local radio station, admitting that Paraguay has " serious failures" in monitoring air traffic due to faulty radar 5 equipment.
The authorities, however, have seized two sizable shipments of cocaine at Puerto Fenix before, including a 300-kg cache in February and an 875-kg cargo 6 in May 2011, he said.
