A waffle, "waffle," is something that is made from batter 1. 华夫饼（waffle），是用糊状物做成的。
Batter, "batter," when we talk about cooking is a liquid, made usually with eggs, and flour, and perhaps milk, 糊状物（batter），当我们谈论烹调的东西是液体的时候，通常是用鸡蛋、面粉或牛奶调成，
and you combine these things together and you get a thick liquid, which we call batter, 你把这些东西混合在一起，就能得到浓稠的液体，那就叫做糊状物。
and you take the batter and you put it into a special cooking machine, which we call a waffle iron, "iron." 你拿着这个糊状物，把它放进专门的烹饪器里，也就是我们所说的松饼机（iron）。
And, a waffle iron has a certain shape, usually it's square, 而且，松饼机有一定的形状，一般是方形的，
and when you put the batter in, you close the top of it and you cook it from both sides. 你把糊状物放进去的时候，然后盖上它，它的两边同时受热。
And, when you take it out, it has little squares in it, and this is called a waffle. 最后，你拿出松饼机的时候，它里面有小方块，那就叫做华夫饼。
It's a kind of almost like a bread. 它很像面包。
And, after you make the waffle, you usually put some special type of liquid sugar, which we call syrup 2, "syrup." 你做完华夫饼后，一般会在上面放上一些专门的液态糖，我们把它叫做糖浆（syrup）.
Often, this comes from trees; the best syrup comes from maple 3 leaf trees. 糖浆往往产自树木；最好的糖浆产自枫叶树。
It's called maple syrup; it's very good. 它叫做枫树糖浆；质量特佳。
