各位亲爱的朋友们，欢迎来到早间课堂第二些列《抛招接招》小节目，我是Juliet。今天我继续抛出说“冷遇”的招，请听：
例句-1：That painting leaves me cold.
例句-2：The idea of going to the party left him cold.
接招：我们可以听到在上面的2个例句中都用到了同一个词语：leave cold。短语中的cold意思是without emotion or without enthusiasm（冷淡的，没有激情的）。Leave 有遗留，留下的意思。那么，leave sb cold意思就是不能打动某人，不能激发起某人的兴趣。If something leaves you cold, it does not cause you to feel any emotion.

1. Tom's new book is quite well written, but the characters leave me cold.
汤姆的新书写的相当不错,就是人物打不动我的心弦。
2. Mary said the book had her in tears, but it left me cold.
Mary说这本书让她感动得泪流满面，可是我却无动于衷。
3. The music's good, but the story left the producer cold.
这首歌很好听，但是歌中讲诉的故事却不能打动制片人的心。
4. Most of the programs on TV leave me cold.

我们再来看一个跟leave 和cold有关的词语，我们还是先来听2个例子：
例句-1：I am surprised to see such a play out in the cold: I think he should definitely 2 be allowed to play for the team.
例句-2：Some workers were left out in the cold in the recent wage agreement with their employees 3.
接招：在刚才听到的2个例句中都用到了同一个词语：out in the cold。它的意思是excluded 4 from a group or an activity；ignored； not allow someone to become part of a group or an activity。中文意思即：被排斥在某集体或某项活动之外的; 不被理睬的。这是一条副词性习惯用语，它可以和leave连用，即：leave sb/sth out in the cold。
