[00:12.59]Not long ago there was a girl called Daisy.

[00:17.63]One day she woke up and found a flying chair by her bed.

[00:23.56]"Where do you want to go?"it asked.

[00:28.24]Daisy hurried to get dressed and put on her jeans and sweater.

[00:34.19]"I would like to see the animals that gave fur to make sweater,"she said.

[00:41.14]The chair began to rise.

[00:44.70]It flew away to Tibet in China faster than a bird.

[00:50.57]"But where are the antelopes 3?"cried Daisy.

[00:56.03]"There are only mountains and people!"

[01:00.29]She turned round and there was an antelope 2 with a sad face looking at her.

[01:07.66]The antelope said,"Our fur is being used to make sweaters like yours.

[01:15.70]We are killed for the wool that is taken from under our stomachs.

[01:21.55]Every year over 29,000 of my friends are killed

[01:27.61]and now there are only 72,000 of us left.

[01:32.19]In three years we may all be gone!" Daisy began to cry.

[01:38.95]"I didn't know that,"she said,

[01:43.39]"Flying chair,please show me some place where there is some wildife protection."

[01:50.24]The chair flew away so fast that you could not see it.

[01:56.09]Next minute they were in Zimbabwe.

[02:00.84]Daisy turmed round and saw she was being watched by an excited elephant.

[02:08.50]"Have you come to take my picture? Or would you prefer a rhino 4?"it asked.

[02:15.76]Daisy laughed."I wait here because we're becoming endangered in Zimbabwe.

[02:23.31]Farmeers used to hunt us and the rhionos.

[02:27.46]They didn't want to protect us even though tourists love to see us.

[02:33.03]They said we destroyed their farms,

[02:37.00]and money from the tourists used to go to the big tour companies in Harare.

[02:43.24]So the government decided 5 to help.

[02:47.00]They asked the tour companies to bring tourists to the area

[02:52.67]to take photos or to hunt,

[02:56.01]and they set the number of animals to be hunted.

[03:00.38]The tour companies applied 6 to be allowed to hunt some for a fee,

[03:05.73]which made a lot of money for the farmers.

[03:09.49]As a result,farmers like us and no longer hunt us.

[03:14.74]Now please be quick! I'm ready now for my photo!"

[03:19.60]Daisy took it quickly.Then she smiled.

[03:25.17]"That's better,but I'd like to help as the WWF suggests."

[03:31.64]The chair rose again and almost at once they were in thick rain forest.

[03:39.79]A monkey watched them as it rubbed itself.

[03:44.94]"What are you doing?"asked Daisy."This protects me from mosquitoes,"it replied.

[03:54.19]"I find a millipede insect and rub 7 it over my body.

[03:59.54]I t contains a power-ful drug which affects mosquitoes.

[04:05.11]"It might help you if you pay attention to the rain forest

[04:09.57]where I live and understand how the animals live together there.

[04:14.01]No rain forest,no animals and no drugs." Daisy was amazed 8.

[04:21.88]"Flying chair,take me home so I can tell WWF and begin producing this new drug.

[04:28.96]Monkey,come with me to help." The monkey agreed.

[04:35.62]The chair rose and flew home.As they landed,things began to disappear.

[04:44.26]Two minutes later everything was gone -- the monkey.too.

[04:51.03]So Daisy was not able to make her new drug.

[04:56.20]But what an experience! She had learned so much! And there is always WWF....

[05:15.09]Many animals have disappeared during the history of the earth.

[05:20.86]The most famous of these animals were dinosaurs 10.

[05:25.59]They lived on the earth tens of millions of years ago,

[05:30.42]long before humans came into being.

[05:39.33]and several of them have been found in Xixia County,Nanyang,Henan Province,

[05:51.40]and not long ago a rare new species of bird-like dinosaur

[05:58.06]was discovered in Chaoyang County,Liaoning Province.

[06:03.73]The scientists were surprised to find they could run like other dinosaurs


[06:10.57]but alsoclimb trees.

[06:14.33]They could tell this from the way the bones were joined together.

[06:19.90]Dinosaurs died out quickly about 65 million years ago.

[06:26.06]Some scientists think it was after a large rock hit the earth

[06:32.59]and put too much dust into the air.

[06:37.06]Others think the earth got too hot for the dinosaurs to live on it any more.

[06:43.12]Nobody knows for sure.

[06:46.36]In the same way there are animals that have died out more recently

[06:52.42]and no one knows why.
