A disabled Syrian refugee has been given the opportunity to carry the Olympic Flame through a refugee camp in Athens.

Ibrahim Al-Hussein, 27, is a freestyle swimmer, basketball player and former judo wrestler. He crossed the Aegean Sea and entered Greece in 2014, after losing part of his leg in a bombing in Syria. He was granted asylum in Greece.
The International Olympic Committee said it wants to draw the world’s attention to the plight of the refugees. Greece has been the main entry point into Europe, with some 8,000 refugees and migrants currently on its islands.
