China has the world's third largest landmass and a wealth of natural resources. But as the world's most populous nation moves further along the path of industrialization and urbanization, water -- the very basis of life -- is becoming more scarce.

Over the past month, our reporter Han Bin and his crew have been traveling across the country to understand more about the causes and possible solutions to this increasingly urgent issue.

Over the past month, our reporter Han Bin and his crew have been traveling across the country to understand more about the causes and possible solutions to this increasingly urgent issue. The result is the 12-episode special series, "Half Empty".

The first episode was aired on May 18th. Since then, we've been introduced to extraordinary characters, including one woman trying to fight against drought in the grasslands of Northern China. We've visited China's massive water diversion project, aimed at bringing the Yangtze River to the country's parched north. And, we've learned more about so-called "sponge cities," which are piloting new systems of urban water management. Now, in the final episode of "Half Empty", Han Bin takes on one last journey, to meet a pioneering architect in Shanghai, who still sees the glass as half full.
