可怜的管子工
A lady was expecting the plumber; he was supposed to come at ten o'clock.
一位女士在等着管子工来，他本该10点来的。
Ten o'clock came and went; no plumber; eleven o'clock, twelve o'clock, one o'clock; no plumber.
10点了，没来；11点了，没来；12点了，没来；1点了，还是没来。
She concluded he wasn't coming, and went out to do some shopping. While she was out, the plumber arrived.
她认为他不会来了，就出去买东西了。她走了以后，管子工来了。
He knocked on the door; the lady's parrot said, "Who is it?" He replied, "It's the plumber."
他敲了敲门，那位女士的鹦鹉说：“谁呀？”他答道：“我是管子工。”
He thought it was the lady who'd said, "Who is it?" and waited for her to come and let him in.
他认为是那位女士在问：“谁呀？”，于是就等着她来开门。
When this didn't happen he knocked again, and again the parrot said, "Who is it?" He said, "It's the plumber!"
没有人来开门，他又敲了敲门。鹦鹉问道：“谁呀？”他答道：“我是管子工！！！”
He waited, and again the lady didn't come to let him in. He knocked again, and again the parrot said, "Who is it?" He said, "IT'S THE PLUMBER!!!!!!!!"
他等着，还是没有人来开门。他又敲门，鹦鹉问道：“谁呀？”他答道：“我是管子工！！！”
Again he waited; again she didn't come; again he knocked; again the parrot said, "Who is it?"
他又等着，还是没有人来开门。他再敲门，鹦鹉问道：“谁呀？”
"Aarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!" he said, flying into a rage; he pushed the door in and ripped it off its hinges. He suffered a heart attack and he fell dead in the doorway 2.
“啊——”他怒火中烧，撞进门去，把门上的合叶都撞掉了。他的心脏病发作，倒在门口，死了。
The lady came home, only to see the door ripped off its hinges and a corpse 3 lying in the doorway, "A dead body!" She exclaimed, "WHO IS IT?!"
那位女士回到家，却发现门掉下来了，门口还有一具死尸。她惊叫道：“一具尸体！他是谁？！”
The parrot said, "It's the plumber."
鹦鹉答道：“是管子工。”
