1970Alexander Solzhenitsyn, author and dissident in what’s then the Soviet 5 Union, wins the Nobel Prize for Literature. His work chronicles life under the repression 6 and labor camps of Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
And 1956Don Larsen of the New York Yankees, pitches the only perfect game as well as a no-hitter in a World Series to date that gives Yankees a 2 to nothing shutout over the Brooklyn Dodgers 7 in game 5.
