Witnesses say the officer, Johannes Mehserle, shot Oscar Grant while he was lying facedown on the train platform. The shooting sparks violence, street protests and hundreds of arrests.


4.Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson is scheduled to make her first public appearance since the killings 8 of her mother, brother and nephew. An NFL spokesman says Hudson will sing the national anthem 9 at the Super Bowl in Tampa on February 1st.
