Health officials from 32 nations have met in Cuba to discuss plans to contain the Ebola epidemic 1.
The meeting was organized by ALBA, a nine-nation bloc 2 led by socialist 3 allies Venezuela and Cuba. They held a summit in Havana last week in which presidents and prime ministers pledged cooperation on Ebola.
The nations met to coordinate 4 a region-wide response if the virus was to spread in the Americas. Experts warned, despite a handful of Ebola cases in the Americas, it's only a matter of time before more cases of the virus surface, unless it is contained in West Africa. Cuba says it is preparing to train health professionals from around the Americas, and the US said it appreciated this effort.
