Speaking on environmental protection, Premier 1 Li Keqiang called improving the environment a “battle” and listed the major targets for this year.
"We will fight to win the battle of conserving 2 energy, reducing emissions 3. and improving the environment," Li said.
"This year, we will cut the intensity 4 of carbon dioxide by at least 3.1 percent, reduce both chemical oxygen demand and ammonia nitrogen emissions by around 2 percent, and reduce emissions of sulfur 5 dioxide and nitrogen oxides by around 3 percent and 5 percent respectively."
