China and Mozambique have raised the status of the their relationship to a strategic cooperative partnership. The announcement comes during Mozambican President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi’s visit in China.

Nyusi was received by Chinese President Xi Jinping Wednesday, at a welcoming ceremony at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
During talks, Xi said China and Mozambique should develop ties based on a strategic and long-term perspective. He called for more mutual understanding and broader bilateral cooperation.
Nyusi thanked China for its support in Mozambique’s development and invited Chinese companies to invest in his country. The two leaders also witnessed the signing of a series of cooperative documents.
