China and Hollywood co-producing movies is becoming a bit of a trend nowadays. And the movie "Log Out" -- set in near-future China -- is the opening installment of the first-ever sci-fi franchise involving the pair.

The cast includes American stars Blake Lively and Adrien Brody, as well as Chinese actor Shawn Dou.

It was a star-studded event at Monday's press conference, as China's PAE Pictures unveiled their latest project. "Log Out" is the opening installment in a sci-fi franchise which will come in a variety of formats, including short films, games, serialized shows, graphic novels and feature films.

The film's director Austin Smithard, popular Chinese film star Shawn Dou, Hollywood screen icon Blake Lively and Oscar winner Adrien Brody, attended the event in Beijing.

Meanwhile, PAE Pictures CEO Toni Piech said that China has a market that's more progressive than any other, which is why the country was the perfect place to set the movie.

"I think it's important to do this in China because China has a wonderful future. I come from a country that's very developed very boring in a good way but there's nothing happening there, there's a lot happening here. So I think it's a priviledge to be here take a glimpse into the future of what could happen in a very visionary and positive way," said Toni Piech, CEO, PAE Pictures.

Adrien Brody -- who has already starred in Chinese films, such as Dragon Blade -- explained his intentions of making even more Chinese film with his company Fable House.

"My intention is to help China build something that has the full depth of the story telling what it needs with the infrastructure and the might that this nation has and to bring those ideas to fruition and have that appeal to the world market," he said.

"Log Out" is a 25-minute film set in China, about 15 years into the future. It addresses our apparent dependecy on technology, and the impact it might have on the way we will interact. The female-lead, Blake Lively, shared with us the reason she decided to take part in this film.

"Yeah the topic was incredibly  interesting especially being a new mother I'm thinking of what my child's relationship with technology may be like. It's both exciting and terrifying. Technology has opened so many doors for us and given human beings so many opportunities but closed one of the most important doors which is human interaction," she said.

CCTV News reporter Fei Ye was at the press conference to launch the production, and she had a chance to sit down with Lively, who talked about her experiences working on her first Chinese film.

Q1: This is the first sci-fi coproduced film between China and the US, how is it working with your Chinese colleagues here?

A1: I got to work with Shawn the other day, he is incredibly talented and incredible kind. He has a very impressive presence so when he walks on he is very masculine, strong but also very warm and tender. And it is exactly what you want in this film. It is a bit of a love story but these people only spend one moment on screen together and in one second you need to get so much feeling between two people and you need to get a sense of him and a sense on me.

Besides being an actress, Lively also developed a lifestyle-website called Preserve, which is part magazine, part e-commerce hub, part philanthropic endeavour, but, above all, it's about linking creative people all over America.

Q2: How is being an entrepreneur different from being an actor?

A2: It's different being an entrepreneur because you are in control of your own faith the way you are not as an actor. As an actor you are hired to perform a duty and you don't get to control the outcome from the beginning, middle, and end, the success and failure. You get to own your output as an entrepreneur and I appreciate that.

Q3: You are a role model for many young people, do you have any advice for them that you wished others have given you when you were growing up?

A3: I got a lot of pretty good advice from my family growing up, they just never took no for an answer and that can be very frustrating sometimes. They never let anyone discourage them they cant do what they knew they can do so it's about believing in your instinct in yourself and going for because you can do anything you set your mind to their will be challenges and pitfalls but you are the only person that can stop you.

The film can be expected in the fall of 2015, throughout Asia and audiences in mainland China can watch it through iQiyi. "Log Out" will also be distributed by Yahoo, Daily-motion and Youtube in other areas of Asia.
