A new study finds a compound in chocolate called flavanol can help reverse memory loss in older adults. Our doctor B talked about this now., which is the first study which he said is found by Mars and Paul and of course they make chocolate bars. But still there is some promise here.

Yes, there is. I mean this is interesting. it’s promising 1. Mike, my confession 2, I am a big chocolate eater. I love chocolate. Yeah, well, we will get to that. They’vae been looking for years for ways to reverse or prevent that age associated declining memory. We all have that. We forget things. And they found that animals that ate flavanols, this compound that’s in chocolate, hitting increased blood flow into the part of the brain that’s related to memory. Animals were effective. So they tried it on people, small group of people and they’ve found people who have high diet take in flavanols, they remembered more and their blood flowed that part of the brain increased.

So how much chocolate are we talking about here?

All right. It’s not what I have. I confess that every night I have a piece of dark chocolate. You would have to have equivalent to 20 chocolate bars a day, a day, to take enough flavanols. It’s not the milk chocolate that so many people like. That will hurt you waistline. That will hit diabetes 3. (There is no flavanol in the milk chocolate?) There is, but either so much sugar and so little. You want a coco level above like 85%. Yeah, yes, it’s a lot.

All right, what about if we don’t want to enjoy the joy of chocolate, not a fan, but want the flavanols, where can we get?

So all these fruits, onions, apples, red grapes, they all have flavanols. If you want to get this, they are all good foods for you anyway. But again there is a lot more work. This is a bigger study. We want to see can this work because you can take out the flavanols and gives it to the //. But for now, dark chocolate is still a wonderful, wonderful thing. Not his much dark chocolate. Yeah, I will save this for later.
