通过第19课前三讲的学习我们知道了pull an all-nighter和be a night owl 1都有be active at night的意思，即：打更熬夜之意。What's more, we have more colorful words which are similar to saying "pull an all-nighter" or "be a night owl". 我们还有更多的方式来表述"打更熬夜"的意思。今天我们就来享受这些好词妙语。这 —— 就是我们今天的Spiritual Breakfast。
1. stay up I stayed up late last night to watch the final game of the World Cup. 我昨晚熬夜看了世界杯决赛。
注解：last night 昨晚 final game决赛 the World Cup 世界杯 watch a game 观看比赛2. a nightbird / a night person It's a pity that I cannot become a nightbird to have a blast with all of you tonight , singing and dancing.很可惜我今晚不能和大家共度又唱又跳的狂欢之夜。
注解：（1）短语：have a blast 玩疯；玩得极其痛快 （2）语法：singing and dancing 是现在分词短语做伴随状况状语，也的语法专家说是方式状语。
3. sit up It's usual for him to sit up late at night.他经常晚上熬夜。
4. burn the oil midnight oil Everybody knows it is not healthy to burn the midnight oil. Sometimes we have no choice to stay up cramming 3 for the tests tomorrow.虽然每个人都知道熬夜是不健康的。但有时我们还是不得不熬夜抱佛脚。
注解：(1) 短语：have no choice 别无选择；不得已 cram 2 for为.....临时抱佛脚。 (2) 语法：cramming for the tests tomorrow是现在分词短语在句中作原因状语。(3) 短语来源： Burn the midnight oil这个短语是引用十七世纪英国诗人Francis Quarles相当受欢迎的作品《徽章》(Emblems)。当时人民想在夜晚读书或工作，只能使用油灯照明，因此这位诗人就在他深夜埋头工作时，有感而发的写下：“We spend our midday sweat, our midnight oil/ we tire the night in thought, the day in oil.” 表示自己在白天或深夜都得燃烧油灯，汗流工作。 后来当某人日以继夜地工作时，我们就会说他“连半夜也要燃烧油灯”，慢慢地这种说法也就被用来指“开夜车”“熬夜”的意思。
Experts point out that pulling an all-nighter is sure to do us harm which is skin damage, resistance dropping, memory deterioration 4 and fire excess from yin deficiency. So , keeping a good health is of primary importance for a night owl.
专家指出，与自然规律相悖的行为，往往对人体的健康存在着潜在的危害。对于“熬夜族”来说，捍卫自身的健康可是生活中的头等大事。因为熬夜可以给我们带来四害：一是皮肤受损，二是抵抗力下降，三是记忆力下降，四是阴虚火旺。亲爱的朋友，或许为了生计，您不得不成为“熬夜族”中的一员。Just as the same, I hope that you have a good health.
