MONI AND HIS GOATS 莫尼和他的山羊

Moni was a goat boy in Switzerland. 莫尼是瑞士的一个牧羊男孩。
In the villages of that country, each family generally keeps a few goats for their milk. 在那个国家的乡村，通常家家户户都会养几只山羊来获取羊奶。
Every morning Moni took these goats with his own, up into the mountains. 每天早晨，莫尼都会独自赶着这些山羊爬到山上。
All day he watched over them while they grazed on the little plots of grass among the rocks and cliffs. 他每天照看着它们在岩石和峭壁间的多个小块草地上吃草。
The villagers thought that all he had to do was to sing and enjoy himself, 村民们认为他要做的只是唱歌和自娱自乐，
but this story shows that he had to be brave and faithful as well.. 但这个故事表明他还需要勇敢和忠诚...
THE BOY AND HIS HERD 1 男孩和他的羊群
It was very early in the morning when Moni, the goat boy, came through the little Swiss village singing his song. 一大清早，牧羊男孩莫尼唱着歌穿过瑞士的一个小村庄。
The goats sprang from their sheds to meet him as he waved his switch and called to them. 当他挥着鞭子，冲着羊群呼唤时，山羊们从羊圈中跳出来迎接他。
In the sky the rosy 2 clouds were piled high, 天空中玫瑰色的云朵堆得高高的，
and a fresh morning breeze whispered about the ears of Moni as he climbed up-ward. 当莫尼往山上爬得时候，清新的晨风在他耳边低语。
How pleasant it all was! Everything was the way he liked to have it. 这一切多么令人愉快啊！这里的一切都是他喜欢的样子。
The boy sang out of pure happiness his voice rang far down into the valley, 男孩唱出了满是愉悦的歌声，歌声飘向了远方，在山谷里萦绕，
where many a sleeper 3 opened his eyes in surprise, 山谷中那些睡梦中的人突然惊奇地睁开了眼睛，
only to close them again as he heard the merry voice of the goat boy. 当他们听到是牧羊男孩的欢乐歌声时，却禁不住又把眼睛合了起来。
Moni and the goats climbed upward for about two hours until they were high among the peaks of the mountains. 莫尼和山羊们往上爬了大约两个小时，直到到达群峰间的高地上。
The higher they climbed, the brighter everything seemed. 爬得越高，所有的景物似乎就越清晰。
Once more the goat boy began to sing from the bottom of his heart, 莫尼又开始唱起来自心底的歌声，
louder and more joyously 4 the farther up he went. 他爬得越高，歌声就越嘹亮欢快。
