谈谈状语从句的省略

为了简洁起见，有的状语从句(如时间状语从句、条件状语从句等)有时可省略从句的主语和部分谓语(尤其是当从句主语与主句主语一致，且从句谓语包括有动词be时)：
She fell 1 asleep 2 while 3 (she was 4) doing her homework. 她在做作业时睡着了。
He kept silent 5 when (he was) asked why he was late. 问他为什么迟到，他一言不发。
Although 6 (it was) built 7 100 years ago, the bridge 8 is very strong. 虽然建于100年前，但这桥还是很牢固。
有些由if构成的省略结构，已属固定短语，如if any, if necessary 9, if possible 10, if not, if so等：
There are few 11, if any, mistakes 12 in that book. 那本书就是有错误也不多。
If necessary, ring me at home. 如果必要，可以打电话到我家找我。
If possible, I wish to go there next summer. 如果可能，我希望明年夏天去。
He may be busy. If so, I’ll call later 13. If not, can I see him now? 他可能很忙，要是这样，我以后再来拜访。要是不忙，我现在可以见他吗?
vbl.fall的过去式，vt.击倒，打倒（疾病等），致于...死地，砍伐；n.一季所伐的木材，兽皮，羊毛；adj.凶猛的，可怕的
- I fell to the ground.我摔倒在地上。
- The young couple fell in love at first sight.这对年轻人一见钟情。
adj.睡熟了的，麻木的；adv.熟睡地
- The baby seems to be asleep.那婴孩好像是睡着了。
- My right foot is asleep.我的右脚麻木了。
conj.当…的时候；而；虽然；尽管 n.一会儿
- In a short while,the cat ate up the fish.不久，那只猫便将鱼吃个精光。
- He teaches English in the school all the while.他一直在这所学校里教英语。
adj.安静的，不吵闹的，沉默的，无言的；n.(复数)默剧
- Immediately on his beginning to speak,everyone was silent.他一讲话，大家顿时安静下来。
- The boys looked at the conjuror in silent wonder. 孩子们目瞪口呆地看着那魔术师。
conj（=though）虽然，即使，纵然，尽管
- Although my car is very old,It'still runs very well.我的汽车虽然很旧，但仍然跑得很快。
- Although he worked hard,he failed in the exam.虽然他很努力，但他考试没有及格。
v.build的过去式和过去分词
- My father built his business on years of hard work.我父亲多年奋斗创立了自己的事业。
- Ten years later,the school built out two buildings.10年后这个学校又增建了两栋建筑。
n.桥，鼻梁，桥牌；vt.渡过，架桥
- There are two bookshops near the bridge.大桥附近有两家书店。
- I am strange at bridge.我对桥牌是外行。
adj.必需的，必要的；n.（pl.）必需品
- If necessary,give me a ring.如果需要，打个电话给我。
- Sleep is necessary to health.睡眠对健康是必要的。
adj.可能的
- It is possible to go to the moon now.现在有可能登上月球。
- They got the work over as quickly as possible.他们尽快地结束了工作。
adj.很少的，不多的，少数的；int.少数的
- There are few woods in that area.那个地区几乎没有森林。
- I have a few questions.我有些问题要问你。
n.错误( mistake的名词复数 )；过失；误解；（用词或数字上的）错误v.弄错，误解( mistake的第三人称单数 )；认不出；误会；看错
- In her haste to complete the work on time, she made a number of mistakes. 她急急忙忙想按时完工，结果出了不少错。
- Be humble enough to learn from your mistakes. 要虚心地从自己的错误中学习。
