1.President Barack Obama is set to sit down with Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. and Cambridge Massachusetts police Sergeant 1 James Crowley at the White House today. Crowley is white and arrested Gates who is black on a disorderly conduct charge after Gates had to force his way into his own home. The arrest set off a national debate on racial profiling. The charges against Gates were dropped.
2.Police in central Massachusetts say a baby girl cut from her mother’s womb has been found alive and they say the girl is now in fairly good health at a New Hampshire hospital. The two people who were with the girl when she was found are under arrest. The baby's mother was eight-month pregnant when she was killed.
3.A little bit of good news for residents of the Pacific Northwest. Temperatures are only supposed to climb into the 90s today compared the heating triple-digit yesterday. A high temp. in Seattle was 103, 106 in Portland, Oregon.
4.Nine years after vanishing from her family’s home in Australia, Muffy the dog is back home alive and well. Authorities found her in a backyard more than 1,200 miles away. The new owners of the dog say they found her wandering the street about a year ago. Where are the poor trunk before that is still a mystery.
