For more on this, we're now joined in the studio by Professor Teng Jimeng from the American Studies Center at Beijing Foreign Studies University.
Q1. There's no doubt that things need to change. But for online shoppers, recycling package boxes or choosing retailers that use greener packaging material would mean a change in their shopping habits. And that would be no easy task. How can we encourage shoppers to do just that?
Q2. The challenge with delivery companies is giving them enough incentives. But the reality is there're no rules on packaging material, and using better material would mean an increase in costs. Besides having a social conscience, what would motivate them to be more environmentally responsible?
