　　Monday, March 26, 1827.

　　The north wind blows and snow billows through the air.

　　Thunder claps above the empty streets.
　　雷声在空旷的街道响彻。
　　It is a day that will go down in history.
　　这一天将会被载入史册。
　　A fine gentleman stands alone in a doorway 1.
　　一位举止儒雅的绅士寂寥地站在门口。
　　His carriage awaits, but he does not move.
　　马车停在旁边，但是他却没有上车。
　　He waves the carriage on.
　　他挥手示意让马车前行。
　　Tonight the gentleman will walk home.

　　Like many in Vienna, his eyes are full of tears.

　　Three days later, spring had arrived.

　　The people of Vienna flooded into the streets.

　　At three o'clock in the afternoon, nine priests blessed the composer's coffin 2 and the funeral procession left Beethoven's house.

　　The pallbearers wore rose bouquets 3 and white silk scarves.

　　And there was a time when he came to know Mr. Beethoven well.
