[00:00.00]The Impatient Dog 没有耐心的狗
[00:05.19]Long ago,
[00:07.38]only the cat had the ability to trace their prey 1 by its odour,
[00:11.98]while the other animals used their vision to discover their prey.
[00:15.69]The dog knew that was the best way to hunt a prey
[00:19.40]so he decided 2 to visit the cat.
[00:21.49]“Mr Cat,
[00:23.68]can you teach me the skill to trace the prey by its odour?
[00:27.40]It is very efficient and convenient. ”
[00:29.90]The cat agreed to teach the dog
[00:32.76]and to let him stay in his house during the lessons.
[00:35.59]After a few days,
[00:37.35]the dog thought that he could use the skill
[00:39.75]and he wanted to go home.
[00:41.39]“You have not learnt the skill yet,”
[00:43.70]said the cat,
[00:44.99]“You have to stay longer.”
[00:46.76]“But I have to go home now,”
[00:48.62]the dog insisted.
[00:50.13]“All right,”
[00:51.57]the cat said,
[00:52.88]“you may go back tomorrow but not today.”
[00:55.50]The next morning,
[00:57.15]the cat said to his wife,
[00:58.79]“When the dog comes to bid farewell,
[01:01.74]tell him that I have gone out.
[01:03.38]When he asks where,
[01:04.81]tell him that you don’t know.”
[01:06.32]After a while, the dog came.
[01:08.85]“Where is the teacher?”
[01:10.58]he asked.
[01:12.02]“He went out early in the morning
[01:14.10]and I don’t know where he went,”
[01:16.06]the cat’s wife answered.
[01:17.71]Actually, the cat intended to test
[01:20.87]whether the dog had learnt how to trace any prey by its odor.
[01:24.38]The dog started by following footprints of the cat.
[01:27.77]However, after a short distance,
[01:30.19]the cat had jumped from one rock to another
[01:33.01]and then gone into a cave.
[01:35.00]Then he came out from the other side and leapt onto a tree.
[01:39.04]The dog followed the seemingly vanishing footprints of the cat
[01:43.30]and he came to the two rocks.
[01:45.06]He entered the cave and managed to come out from the other side of it.
[01:49.65]At last, he came to the tree
[01:51.49]but he could not find any footprint.
[01:54.13]The dog could not trace the cat
[01:56.42]though he kept going round and round the tree.
[01:58.83]The cat stayed on top of the tree watching every move of the dog.
[02:04.08]Finally, he said,
[02:06.06]“Look up!
[02:07.02]You have not completely learnt the skill and yet you are ready to leave.
[02:11.40]You can see now that you are still ignorant.”
[02:14.91]Since then,
[02:16.45]the dog only knows how to trail its prey on the ground.
