  Lesson One.We are going to practice the pronunciation of plural 1 nouns 3.

[00:-1.00]Notice there are three different pronunciations for the plural ending s.Listen.

[00:-2.00]one drees   tow 4 dresses     one skirt   two skirts

[00:-3.00]one sweater             two sweaters

[00:-4.00]Notice that the first noun 2,dresses,has an IZ sound,

[00:-5.00]which becomes a separate 5 syllable:dress,dresses.Listen and repeat 6.

[00:10.00]When a noun ends with an S sound,as in place,or a Z sound,as in size,

[00:11.00]you add in IZ sound to the end to make it plural.

[00:12.00]Here are some examples:size becomes sizes;dress becomes dresses.

[00:13.00]When a noun ends with a sound as in page,

[00:14.00]or a sound,as in match,you and an IZ sound to make it plural.

[00:15.00]Here are examples:page becomes pages;match becomes matches.

[00:16.00]Then second plural ending is the S sound,as in one skirt,two skirts.

[00:27.00]The third plural ending is the Z sound,as in one sweater,two sweaters.
