New proof that the economy is getting worse. The government says the gross domestic product recorded its worst performance since 1982.The economy declined at an annual rate of almost 4% last quarter as consumers and businesses cut their spending even further.GDP of course measures the nation's economic activity.
In Illinois residents are waiting up to a new governor this morning. The Senate voted unanimously Thursday to remove Governor Rod Blagojevich from office. Pat Quinn was sworn in as the new governor shortly after Blagojevich got the boot.
Casey Anthony was in court this morning in Orlando Florida, she's accused of killing 1 her two-year-old daughter Caylee. Today's hearing focused on the request to look at the area where Caylee's remains 2 were found.
Over 600,000 residents in Kentucky are out of power. A massive winter storm has knocked out power to more than a million people from Oklahoma to Maine. Now those folks are running out of food, water and fuel to heat their homes. Utility companies say it could be mid-February before everyone has electricity again.
Congress is ironing out the details to expand health insurance to about 11 million low-income children. Yesterday the Senate approved its version of the bill which would add four million more Americans to the State Children's Health Insurance Program. The House passed a similar version of the bill. President Obama could sign a final version of the bill as early as next week.
Well Bruce Springsteen is among the list of performance scheduled to perform at this weekend's Super Bowl. Springsteen says his half-time performance is gonna be a 12-minute party. Jennifer Hudson will sing the national anthem 3.90 million viewers are expected to tune 4 in and watch the Steelers take on the Cardinals 5.
