我经常到楼下的餐馆去吃午饭。那儿新来了一个服务员，特别会拍顾客的马屁，有时让人很不舒服。他第一次见面时问我，"Haven't I seen you in a movie before?" 我知道他这么做的目的是什么，这在英语里这叫，cozy 1 up. Cozy在中文里有舒适的，亲密的意思。Cozy up作为习惯用语，意思就是为了得到某种好处去巴结别人、讨好别人。大家肯定能猜到，那个服务员跟顾客套近乎，不为别的，无非是想多拿些小费。 That's why he was trying to cozy up to me.
我先生昨天跟我说，他有个同事叫Gladys, 最近一直讨好老板，为什么呢，让我们听听看。
