难怪你看上去很憔悴; no wonder you look so pale。

例句-1:This restaurant has such a great location. I couldn't believe it when I heard it was going out of business. But now that I've tasted the food, it's no wonder this restaurant is going out of business! The food here is terrible!

2:You what? You ate three hamburgers, a milkshake, a coke and four slices of pumpkin 1 pie? No wonder you have a stomach ache. I'm just surprised you can walk!

It really worked wonders。 所以,to work wonders就是创造奇迹。
例句-3:I think it must have been the Harry 2 Potter books. Before my kids read the first Harry Potter, they didn't believe reading could be enjoyable. But these books about that magical school have worked wonders. They love reading now!

可是在十八世纪前他们不用to work wonders这个说法,而是用一个相似的说法,那就是,to work like a charm 3。 To work like a charm就是说某样东西效果非常好。
例句-4:I can't believe it. When they said that this skin cream would clear up my skin in less than a week, I didn't think it could happen. I've heard that promise before. But this cream worked wonders. I can't believe how much better my skin looks now!
