1. Outgoing democratic national committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz canceled plans to gavel her party's national convention to order on Monday. The cancellation 1 came just few hours before the scheduled opening. The Florida congresswoman resigned her post at the helm of the DNC, in the wake of an email scandal involving her aides.
2. Police in Fort Myers, Florida say they are trying to determine a motive 2 in the deadly nightclub shooting which they say was not an active terror. Two teens were killed and 17 others injured when the gunfire erupted overnight Sunday.
3. Nearly 3,000 firefighters are on the front-line after a wildfire in California ballooned to more than 51 square miles. Evacuations are not affecting 10,000 homes and estimated 20,000 people, and it's already destroyed 18 residents.
4. And the Duke of York inaugurated the traditional Chinese gate in London's China Town. The $1.3 million gate, with gold leaf dragon motifs 3 and Jade 4 was imported from Beijing. The words above the gate wish prosperity to the U.K.
