The Tianjin Municipal Government says it has actively 1 used the platform to reach out for new opportunities since the forum 2 landed the city in 2008.
Vice 3 mayor of Tianjin Zhao Haishan says this year, 8 outstanding small and medium sized companies will be representing local business at the forum.
Dubbed 4 'little giants', Zhao says these high tech companies have great potential.
"Our 'little giant' enterprises from Tianjin will engage in talks with scholars, politicians and entrepreneurs from all over the world to find out the way to future growth. The theme this year is the Fourth Industrial Revolution and its Transformational impact, and we will see how Tianjin integrates with it, from a Chinese perspective."

Local companies can also be seen demonstrating their upgraded products, and some events feature fortune 500 executives discussing ways to realize industrial transformation.
The city is also making efforts to facilitate enterprises transforming and incubating new innovations.
Jia Di, deputy of the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission says the government launched an innovation zone last year and is trying to provide an eco-system to let local business have more impetus 6 for growth.
The zone has so far attracted more than 24-thouand companies to sign up for the project and they are encouraged to upgrade their equipment and technology through financing and leasing.
"In the second half of this year, we'll focus on setting up a league for leading innovation business players.
