■如果谈论外出旅行，无论是乘公共汽车、飞机和火车，还是骑自行车、摩托车或者骑马，都可以用on(和off)。如：
It’s a ten-minute ride on the bus. 乘公共汽车要用10分钟。
We’re booked on flight 604. 我们订的是604航班的票。
There’s no room on the bus；let’s get off again. 车上没地方了；咱们下去吧。
It took five days to cross the Atlantic on the Queen Elizabeth. 乘伊丽莎自女王号花了5天时间横渡大西洋。
注意：
他坐3点1刻的火车来。
正：He’s arriving on the 3. 15 train.
误：He’s arriving in / with the 3. 15 train.
■但如果涉及私人的汽车、飞机或小船，则用 in 和 out (of)。如：
Jump in and I’ll drive you to the station. 上车吧，我送你到车站去。
He fell into the river when he was getting out of his canoe. 他就在从皮划艇上来的时候，掉到河里去了。
I was so tightly wedged between two other passengers; I couldn’t get off the bus. 我紧紧夹在两个乘客中间下不了公共汽车了。
