释义：sometimes, but not often or regularly
例句：

2.make up phrase.
①释义： to combine together to form something 组成 补足
Make up不能用于be doing 进行式
√ Oxygen makes up roughly 1 20% of the atmosphere.
✗ Oxygen is making up roughly 20% of the atmosphere.
②释义：to pretend that something is true in order to deceivesomeone 编造
例句：I think they're making the whole thing up.
我觉得这一切都是你编造的。
③释义：to produce a new story, song, game etc by thinking 创作
例句：When you're the boss you can make up your own rules.
一旦你做了老板，就可以自己制定规则了。
④释义：化妆
在说化妆这个动作的时候，不能说make sb. up，而应说put on (your) make-up
例句：Hold on for a minute, I've just got to put on my makeup 2.
等一会儿，我得化装一下。

例句：He was looking for a way to make up to her for what he had done.
他在想办法弥补为她带去的伤害。
