孟子曰：“有恒产者有恒心。” 物权法正是要给公众一个“恒心”。两会上，有望被审议通过的“物权法”是万众瞩目的焦点。物权法草案是中国从法律上明确保护私人财产的一项重要立法，强调对国家财产、集体财产和私有财产予以平等保护。

报道说，制定过程长达14年之久的《物权法》草案3月8日提请十届全国人大五次会议审议。为了赋予农民长期而有保障的土地使用权，物权法草案规定：耕地、草地、林地的承包期届满，土地承包经营权人可以按照国家有关规定继续承包。
报道中的“property law”就是“物权法”相应的英文表达。“Property”在此指“the right of ownership; title”（所有权）。
此外，另一部与“物权法”同等重要，同样被认为是本次大会我国立法工作大事的草案是“企业所得税法”，其相应的英文表达是“enterprise income tax law”。
