Our galaxy 1 is rushing toward the great galaxy Andromeda, they are rushing toward each other. And they are going to encounter each other in a couple billion years.

Abraham and his colleagues decide to try to simulate this clash of the Titans.

This was the first relation of the sky. Initially 2, the two galaxies 3 plunge 4 through each other, producing these beautiful tails of stars due to the force of gravity. They run away, turn around and come back together to make one big spheroid of stars, which I called the Nicomedia Galaxy.

The merger 6 of the Milky 7 Way and Andromeda galaxies, they are coming together of almost a trillion stars.

The beautiful spiral structure of our Milky Way galaxies not something that is going to last forever, it's going to be a mass for a while. The collision will not be one in which these two things are destroyed, but this one where the gas in each system will collide with the gas in the other that little have a birth of star formation.

And the formation of these new stars will mark the rebirth of a new galaxy.

This spectacular Hubble image shows the antenna 8 galaxies, a grand cosmic collision between two spiral star cities. The galaxies are undergoing a frenzy 9 of star birth, visible as a multitude of brilliantly illuminated 10 pink nebulae, a final flare 11 of stellar activity before the galaxies merge 5 to become one. This is the fate that awaits our Milky Way when it merges 12 with Andromeda three billion years from now.

When they collide, there will be a lot of new star formation that takes place. There will be a kind of rejuvenation 13 of the Milky Way for a little while and then eventually this combined system was settled down to become a new thing, probably a bigger galaxy than either of the galaxies…..
