Today marks the 69th anniversary of Japan's surrender to China.
This is the first time September 3rd has been officially marked as Victory Day.
In marking the event, top Chinese leaders including Xi Jinping and Li Keqiang are scheduled to attend a ceremony here in Beijing.
The Japanese military formally signed its surrender on September 2nd, 1945, marking the end of the World War II.
Its ground troops surrendered to the Chinese government the following day.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with Romanian Prime Minister Victor-Viorel Ponta in Beijing.
As part of the meeting, Xi Jinping says China welcomes Romania to share in China's opportunities and achieve development together.
For his part, Ponta says China's development provides Romania with great opportunities.
He says Romania looks forward to more people-to-people exchanges and closer cooperation with China.
