《泪洒天堂》是艾里克·克莱普顿献给他死去的儿子的。1991年,克莱普顿4岁的儿子由于保姆的不慎意外坠楼身亡,这个打击几乎让他一蹶不振。从此他寄情于音乐,用不间断的创作缓解难以负荷的伤痛,用至情至胜的歌声超度死者的灵魂:

    艾里克·克莱普顿(Eric Clapton)

    素有“吉他之神”美誉的英国摇滚巨星艾里克·克莱普顿生于1945年,早年曾是一位布鲁斯乐手,后来成为重型摇滚乐的先锋之一。他在音乐界显赫的声望有一半来自现场精湛的吉他演奏。90年代后的第一张专辑就是他在1990-91年间于伦敦皇家亚伯厅的多场现场实况记录《24 Nights》,而在此之前他也发行过将近十套现场即兴表演的音乐专辑。


    克莱普顿的音乐松弛自然,演唱深切感人。1993年,他因为一曲《泪洒天堂(Tear in Heaven)》一举摘得当年格莱美的6项大奖;1997年他又因演唱《改变世界(Change the World)》而荣获格莱美的最佳男声歌曲奖。
