Chinese celebrities 1 will be banned from endorsing 2 products or services they haven't used.
This is one of the many proposals set out in a draft amendment 3 to China's 20-year-old Advertisement Law.
According to the amendment, adverts 4 for drugs, medical equipment and health food should not use health experts or patients to claim the effects of the products, and exaggerations or guarantees on such effects are off-limits.
The amendment also seeks a wider ban of tobacco ads in more public venues 5 and online.
The draft has now been tabled to the Standing 6 Committee of the National People's Congress for the first reading.
