But Magellan’s crew continues and ultimately completes the first circumnavigation of the globe. 1805. A force of marines and mercenaries capture the city of Derna, on “the Shores of Tripoli”, now part of Libya. And 1947. In New York, alien baseball star Babe Ruth is honored at Yankee’s Stadium on Babe Ruth’s Day. “There have been so many lovely things said about me and I am glad to have had the opportunity to thank everybody.
